The Bretton Woods Project (BWP) is a watchdog and an advocate for change. The Project develops and maintains an information and evidence base that contributes to critical voices that seek to influence the World Bank and the IMF so that they support development policies that are gender transformative, equitable, environmentally sustainable and consistent with international human rights norms. BWP is hosted by ActionAid UK.
The role
The Project is seeking a Communications Manager to work collaboratively with the team to provide strategic leadership and management of the organisation’s communications and outreach work.
Key roles and responsibilities
You will have responsibility for updating and developing our communications strategy and managing its implementation. You will also manage all aspects of the Project’s communications systems, such as the website, collation and archiving of information, and transition from its current client management software system.
You will coordinate our monitoring and publications processes with a particular focus on the quarterly Bretton Woods Observer and other digital and print output and mailings. Assisting the Project to maximise the advocacy impact of its communications outputs, you will ensure all communications are aligned with and support our advocacy objectives and strategies and lead on our approach to interaction with our main audiences.
Experience and skills
A superb communications manager, you will have proven ability to develop and adapt communications strategies and approaches that are tailored to support advocacy objectives.
With knowledge of the international development sector, the successful candidate will have proven experience in the development and implementation of communications strategies as well as experience in producing outputs tailored to the support of specific policy-focused advocacy objectives.
You will have previous experience of producing and disseminating communications products for targeted audiences and of writing concise articles for publications aimed at specialist audiences.
Experienced in maintaining and managing website content, you will have extensive knowledge of online publishing software and systems (WordPress). Excellent knowledge of other relevant software programmes (e.g. Goldmine, Mmunic) and ability to liaise effectively with service providers are also key requirements.
