The Center for Human Rights at the American Bar Association promotes and protects human rights worldwide — mobilizing lawyers to help threatened advocates; rallying thought leaders on vital issues; and holding abusive governments accountable.
The role
The American Bar Association (ABA) Center for Human Rights is seeking a short term paid consultant to support its Proxy Warfare Project.
Key roles and responsibilities
The ABA Center for Human Rights recently released a report on the Legal Framework Regulating Proxy Warfare, addressing whether gaps in the law are contributing to civilian casualties and protracted conflict. We are now working to organize a side event at the United Nations General Assembly.
The consultant will be asked to conduct outreach to panelists for the meeting, identify a sponsor and venue, and perform other tasks as related to the organization of the side event.
Experience and skills
The ideal consultant will have had significant experience in public international law and policy, particularly the arms trade or civilian casualty mitigation and a past record of organizing events in this environment.
Other useful information
Compensation is commensurate with experience and deliverable based.
We ask interested candidates to submit a biodata form, resume and cover letter detailing their experience and include their hourly salary rate and desired salary for the 3 month contract with the possibility to extend. Interested candidates should send their materials to [email protected].
