Our consultancy work focuses on developing tailored solutions to specific challenges. Through services spanning research, strategy, evaluation, learning facilitation, and organisational transformation, we partner with organisations to drive evidence-informed change.

On Think Tanks is a leading global source of information, support and community for people working in, with and funding think tanks. We create a space to connect, learn and exchange knowledge, ideas and resources.

About the role

The role holder will manage and lead the growth of OTT’s digital communications channels and content. The role will work across OTT’s programmes and projects involving multiple sectors, geographies and stakeholders. This is a critical role. The post holder will manage and produce the content used to communicate and engage with our multiple stakeholders; gather information about OTT’s stakeholders; and use it to inform and further develop our communications and marketing strategy. The Content Manager will be line-managed by OTT’s Communications Manager and work in close collaboration with members of the team across the organisation.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Strategy and planning: Develop and manage a content plan and pipeline, inputting into wider organisational strategic planning. You will manage the process to set communication and marketing priorities.
  • Analytics and learning: Track key performance indicators across the OTT website, social media channels, newsletter and content, delivering monthly, quarterly and annual reports that offer recommendations and help the organisation to learn and improve its practice to achieve its objectives.
  • Social media: Manage and optimise OTT’s social media platforms to increase reach and engagement across channels (currently: LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Instagram). This includes managing OTT’s digital advertising budget. You will also seek to encourage and inspire greater involvement from the OTT team in support of the organisation’s communication and marketing efforts.
  • Website: Keep OTT’s website, jobsboard and events calendar up-to-date and optimised. You will also make recommendations to improve access to key information and resources.
  • Newsletter: Manage and grow OTT’s newsletter, segmenting audiences, and targeting messages to increase impact. You will continuously improve its design and delivery.
  • Blog: Coordinate the editorial process for articles (from external contributor sand team members), provide hands-on editorial support, and develop an article series on OTT’s impact.
  • Publications: Manage the production process for OTT publications, including coordinating with external agencies, as well as providing hands-on editorial and typesetting support.
  • Podcast: Develop an annual plan for the OTT Talks podcast and deliver high-impact episodes.
  • Other: Depending on need you will be called to provide content management support to individual projects, such as the OTT School for Thinktankers or the Annual OTT Conference.
  • Engagement within OTT: As a member of the OTT team, you will be called on to engage with the team, join in team meetings, offer support and advice to peers, etc. We encourage all members of the OTT team to share their own skills and experience through blogs, podcasts or other means.

Skills and experience

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Strong writing and editing skills (proficiency-level English) with a keen eye for detail. A second language (e.g. French, Spanish, Arabic) is desirable.
  • The ability to clarify complex ideas by eliminating technical jargon, and crafting engaging narratives.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time. You will need to independently coordinate and oversee end-to-end production processes to deliver multiple outputs on time.
  • Demonstrable expertise in planning and delivering multi-channel marketing plans (both always-on and campaigns) through the effective management of digital platforms. Also, demonstrable experience using digital platforms, including website management, and effectively using social media tools and analytics.
  • Creativity and judgement–you are able to make independent judgements about editing needs, design, messaging and communication approach to maximise impact.
  • Design and typesetting skills.
  • Ability to work independently (OTT has a fully-remote team) and at the same time coordinate and collaborate with various team members.
  • Experience engaging with and working with senior colleagues, particularly technical experts who may be less experienced in communication and marketing.
  • Ability to work with (at times) agencies or freelancers to deliver high-quality outputs on time.
  • An entrepreneurship mindset and approach–you will be encouraged to continuously monitor, learn and improve how we do things.
  • A willingness to learn on the job and take advantage of new technologies (e.g.AI) and services.
  • 5-years of experience in communications/content management or an equivalent role. Experience in a consulting environment is highly desirable. A marketing background is desirable.

Crucially, we are looking for a candidate who will be motivated to communicate technical knowledge in a manner that motivates our stakeholders to act through creative and quality outputs. The ideal candidate will be able to establish and keep to deadlines, manage changing priorities and timelines. The ideal candidate will be able to encourage and inspire the entire team to engage and support OTT’s communication and marketing efforts.
