The role
We are looking for a Development Officer.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Planning and organising a programme of private fundraising events that compliments the work of the CPS and boosts the profile of the think tank and its sister website CapX
- Working closely with the COO to identify and pursue potential funding leads
- Providing briefings to the COO, Head of External Relations, Head of Policy and Director ahead of meetings and events
- Identifying funding opportunities and preparing funding applications
- Managing the CRM database
- Managing the giving pipeline
- Liaising with external stakeholders to ensure every aspect of each private event is delivered to standard
- Carrying out other duties as and when required in order to contribute to the efficient running of the CPS
Experience and skills
- Experience of liaising with HNWI and UHNWIs
- Experience of successfully soliciting donations – either by yourself or as part of a wider team
- Events experience, including organising small events of c.10 up to large-scale events of c.500
- Highly organised
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience of preparing successful funding applications
- Demonstrable experience of relationship management
- Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines
- Able to confidently lead a small team when managing events
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- An interest in and knowledge of UK politics and current affairs
- Experience using a CRM database (ideally Capsule) and Mailchimp
- Understanding of think tanks and their role in UK politics
- Demonstrable understanding of and sympathy towards the aims and values of the Centre for Policy Studies
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as politics, economics or business
