About the agency
Our mission is to communicate ideas that matter, working for charities, NGOs, think tanks and research organisations to make sure their messages reach the right audiences. Our clients include Chatham House, Imperial College London, UNICEF and many more.
We started out as a print design agency in 2008 but we’ve expanded over the years into digital, branding, editorial, animation and strategic communications consulting.
We’re looking for a New Business Coordinator to join our London team. If you’re passionate about harnessing the potential of creative design and communications to meet the needs of our clients, this could be the opportunity for you.
About the role
The New Business Coordinator is a newly created role in Soapbox. You will be the first point of contact for many new client enquiries – an engaging and positive representative of the agency, helping to build strong and meaningful ongoing relationships with potential clients. You will also be coordinating our efforts to proactively keep in touch with the existing clients on our roster, following up after projects and promoting awareness of all of our products and our deep understanding of our sector. Crucially, you will be responsible for coordinating and drafting our response to clients’ proposals, tenders and pitches, ensuring that these showcase the high quality of our work and set out the most appropriate, innovative and cost effective solutions possible.
You will have oversight of our day-to-day marketing and engagement activities including our website, social media presence, portfolios and other marketing collateral, as you will be responsible for developing and rolling out Soapbox’s marketing plan. This will include internally coordinating the design and development of our new website in 2018, and organising client engagement events. Part of these duties will be to develop Soapbox’s wider thought leadership function by coordinating colleagues’ involvement in our engagement activities.
We believe that our greatest asset in gaining new business is the experience and inventiveness of our directors and practitioners. Coordinating their targeted involvement in new business activities in cost- and time-effective ways will be crucial to the success of this role. As such, you will be engaging with creative and technical colleagues to increase your own knowledge of our products, services and expertise, and so more effectively contribute to presentations and pitch meetings.
About you
We’re looking for someone with substantial marketing and new business experience, particularly for a design agency or similar. You will have a proven record of delivering excellent customer care, including working effectively with customers who have little technical knowledge of web development or design.
You should also have the ability to present complex ideas in a simple, accessible way – both in writing and face-to-face in meetings and presentations. Essentially, you’ll have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), good organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that all points in a brief are answered and that clients’ needs are fully met. Overall, you’ll have the ability to represent the organisation professionally to our clients. Project management experience in developing an organisational website would be great.
You should be educated to graduate level (or equivalent), and have a strong interest in current affairs, with interest in the communication of policy and research content to a wide audience a bonus. A good, non-technical knowledge of the latest digital and design trends, and a basic working knowledge of Adobe products including InDesign and Photoshop would be fantastic.
