The Agora Think Tank is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as President and lead Agora into its next phase of growth and impact.

About the organisation

Agora stands as a leading open forum for foreign policy, defined by their inclusive approach that embraces contributions from diverse fields, transcending the conventional boundaries of politics and international relations. Their mission is to amplify new voices, foster deeper policy understanding, stimulate innovative discussions, and formulate forward-thinking policy recommendations.

Founded in London in 2017, Agora has experienced significant growth in both scale and influence. Currently, their presence extends to most areas of the UK. Despite this expansion, their executive committee has seen minimal changes. Therefore, joining our team presents a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact within our community and beyond.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Shape Agora’s short, medium, and long-term strategic vision.
  • Ensure effective leadership and responsiveness to issues, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the think tank.
  • Coordinate internal organisational meetings.
  • Secure funding and grants to ensure the sustainability of Agora.
  • Cultivate and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, academics, and other policy-based organisations, to enhance Agora’s impact and reach.
  • Represent Agora at national and international forums, thereby elevating our profile and expanding our network. Anticipate and respond to emerging geopolitical trends, guiding Agora’s proactive engagement in global affairs.

Experience and skills

  • Strong technical research knowledge: possess a strong understanding of global affairs and geopolitical dynamics.
  • In-depth knowledge of organisational structures and expertise in funding and fundraising.
  • Experienced and collaborative leader: proven track record of leadership and collaboration, with the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic thinking: exhibit strategic thinking skills, capable of adapting to both internal and external changes.
  • Demonstrated the ability to balance long-term projects with quick turnaround deliverables effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at fostering authentic relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Digital communication knowledge: Skilled in leveraging digital communication tools and platforms to enhance outreach and engagement with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of Agora and Open Think Tank Network: familiarity with Agora’s mission, operations, and the broader landscape of think tanks, including the Open Think Tank Network.
