The role

We are looking for a Development Officer.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Planning and organising a programme of private fundraising events that compliments the work of the CPS and boosts the profile of the think tank and its sister website CapX
  • Working closely with the COO to identify and pursue potential funding leads
  • Providing briefings to the COO, Head of External Relations, Head of Policy and Director ahead of meetings and events
  • Identifying funding opportunities and preparing funding applications
  • Managing the CRM database
  • Managing the giving pipeline
  • Liaising with external stakeholders to ensure every aspect of each private event is delivered to standard
  • Carrying out other duties as and when required in order to contribute to the efficient running of the CPS

Experience and skills

  • Experience of liaising with HNWI and UHNWIs
  • Experience of successfully soliciting donations – either by yourself or as part of a wider team
  • Events experience, including organising small events of c.10 up to large-scale events of c.500
  • Highly organised
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience of preparing successful funding applications
  • Demonstrable experience of relationship management
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines
  • Able to confidently lead a small team when managing events
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An interest in and knowledge of UK politics and current affairs
  • Experience using a CRM database (ideally Capsule) and Mailchimp
  • Understanding of think tanks and their role in UK politics
  • Demonstrable understanding of and sympathy towards the aims and values of the Centre for Policy Studies
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as politics, economics or business
