Institut für Interdisziplinäre Gebirgsforschung

The Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research is a research establishment of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. The IGF team investigates the manifestations and impacts of global change processes (climate change and globalization) in mountain regions across the globe. Using extensive data bases and models for observation and analysis, the IGF team explores the interaction of humans with the environment in mountain regions. On this basis and guided by hypotheses, the IGF creates possible future scenarios that in turn form the basis for developing adaptation strategies.
