The Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity is a non-profit corporation whose main objective is to carry out frontier scientific research in biodiversity sciences and contribute to the sustainable development of the country. The IEB is organized into three structural units: Science / Transfer and Technological Development / Scientific Communication. Being the Unit of Science the main matrix of the institute, within which the Units of Transference and Communication are inserted as transverse organs that seek to generate dialogue and connection with society. The fields of Training of Scientists and Collaboration Networks are also part of the fundamental structure of the IEB. The Institute houses 14 main researchers distributed in 6 universities across the country, more than a hundred graduate students conducting research and a team of more than 20 professionals. It also has 3 biological stations located in strategic sites for the study of biodiversity throughout Chile.
