Founded in 1974 as the Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation, “MDRC” became the official name of the organization in 2003. MDRC is committed to finding solutions to some of the most difficult problems facing the nation — from reducing poverty and bolstering economic self-sufficiency to improving public education and college graduation rates. They design interventions, evaluate existing programs, and provide technical assistance for programs and interventions at scale. They work as an intermediary, bringing together public and private funders to test policy-relevant ideas, and communicate what is learned to policymakers and practitioners. MDRC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan education and social policy research organization dedicated to learning what works to improve programs and policies that affect the poor.
