According to Gazette Notice No. 123 of 2021, the Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC) is a grant-aided institution under the Ministry of Finance and National Planning. Established in 2012, it aims to promote a general understanding of social and economic issues through research and education. PMRC is registered under the Societies Act, Cap 119 of the Laws of Zambia. The institution’s role is to encourage and facilitate debate on social and economic policy issues critical to national development. To fulfil its mandate, it is guided by national development plans and international protocols, including the Sustainable Development Goals. PMRC’s research focuses on four thematic areas: Economic Development, Governance, Natural Resources and Environment, and Social Development and Livelihoods. Since its inception, PMRC has delivered high-quality policy and research advice to its stakeholders by conducting timely and rigorous policy research and analysis.
