OTT provides on-demand and proactive research support to members of the Development Policy and Finance Team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The research support team adopts an “extended workbench” model, allowing for faster commissioning and turnaround times. This enables critical and timely support to the Foundation, allowing programme officers to focus on more strategic activities.

The current investment runs from February 2023 to January 2024. It builds upon two previous phases: a pilot phase, September 2020-July 2021; and phase 2, August 2021-January 2022.

The research support service model offers two main types of outputs: regular commissioned outputs and bespoke requested outputs. In addition, the team offers a more proactive service by identifying issues or areas for rapid research or requested event coverage. The team also offers secretariat services
