Emma Broadbent

Senior Associate

Emma has 15 years + experience working across Africa and Asia as a researcher, policy researcher, programme advisor, and monitoring and evaluation lead to support decision makers to collect and use evidence. Specialising in the areas of education and skills, research to policy systems, governance, gender and social development, she currently leads a team working closely with the Development Policy and Finance Team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide on demand and proactive updates in the area of international development finance and country-level resource mobilization. She is also currently leading a pilot of a similar research function with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Emma has extensive experience working with philanthropic organizations, having led the Varkey Foundation’s MEL portfolio between 2016-2019, working closely with various education initiatives with the Mastercard Foundation, and working with the Economic Justice Program during its 2020 strategy review. Prior to this, Emma worked for a variety of for profit and not-for-profit organizations, including Palladium, Christian Aid, the former DFID’s Governance and Social Development Resource Centre, and the Overseas Development Institute.
