Strategy development for the Mawazo Institute

Supported by  Mawazo Institute,

Project brief

The Mawazo Institute is a non-profit research institute based in Nairobi, Kenya. Its mission is to support the next generation of female scholars and thought leaders in East Africa, and to get policymakers and the general public engaged with its work while amplifying the ideas and voices of African women. On Think Tanks will guide Mawazo through a strategic learning and planning process and leadership transition. We will use participatory approaches to engage all staff and Board members in consultations, including 2-3 board workshops. Informed by this knowledge, we will draft an updated strategy, working closely with the Board and staff to refine it. Key deliverables include: Interim report with recommendations and implementation plan for organisational structure options (midpoint), a five-year strategic plan, CEO job description and recruitment plan, and a background report on the strategic planning process including a summary of stakeholder consultations.
