Through its Innovation Programmes team, Nesta supports people and organisations that are developing ideas to solve big social challenges, from social entrepreneurs and creative digital start-ups, to schools and established charities. Our work in education is focused on looking for ways to prepare young people for good jobs in the future by testing and growing approaches to teaching skills for the future, and supporting schools and teachers to make more effective use of technology.
The role
This key role will see you deliver insightful, compelling and actionable research that can be incorporated into tools and disseminated through a variety of media, as well as designing and delivering new action research and experiments to expand Nesta’s presence in diversity and inclusion in innovation.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Help to advise innovations we are working with, or giving grants to, on evaluation and drawing out evidence of impact
- Support the development of new programmes which make the most of your research insights
- Curate and organise events to connect with academics, educators and technology producers
- Keep abreast of data and technology developments which may have implications for Nesta’s research programme on bringing diversity into technology and innovation
- Support the delivery of other programmes, campaigns and initiatives under the Fairer goal
Experience and skills
What we are looking for a natural collaborator, with a history of working alongside different stakeholders to deliver projects. You will be comfortable using a range of research techniques, including desk-based literature reviews, horizon scanning, action research, and experiments. You will also have strong quantitative data processing and analysis skills, where a sound knowledge and experience of data analysis is especially desired, while excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills, both verbal and written, are vital.
